The A Team started the new year with a great victory against Rochford Town Reserves, as we beat the visitors in what was best described by Callum Horncastle as the most Jekyll & Hyde game you have probably ever seen.
Rochford started the game strongly, putting pressure on the Mighty A Team's goal with some good play and also with the A Team not being at our best... and walked into half time 3-0 up and deservedly so.
But after a righteous speech from gaffer Jake Fairman, that would put Maximum Decimus Meridius to shame, the A Team responded right from the get go with a deserved goal from Dom North after some nice footwork and a well-placed finish, and the comeback started from here.
Our second game came as Ray Burkmar headed home from a Regan Schmid corner, the comeback was completed when Regan set up Ray once again with a lovely ball over the top, which the great Raymondo put in expertly.
Now that we were back in the game it was time to get the W, and another cross came into the box. It was the horny man Callum Horncastle who snuck into the back post to put us in the lead for the first time in the game. Then to wrap up the game in his final match of the season, dirty Dominic North finished off an exquisite team counter attacking move to score the final goal of the game and help give the A team a comfortable lead with not long left!
Overall a pretty dismal first half performance from the A team. We showed character, determination and spirit in the second half that helped complete the comeback and then get the result we wanted. Lots of positives from today but also some stuff to work on headed into the second half of the season.
